          Introduction

The Streamlight Fire Vulcan Model 44400 is a reliable, rechargeable box light.  The 44400 has a 3 position switch that is easy to use with a gloved hand.  The housing is made from a high impact thermoplastic and features a rubberized handle.  It also comes with a quick release carrying strap and a mountable charger.  This light is available in Streamlight Orange.

          Size and Weightfire-vulcan-44400-2

The Fire Vulcan is 7 1/2″ long, 5″ wide, and 6 1/2″ tall and and comes in a little heavy at 3.3 pounds.

          Battery and Battery Life

The 44400 has a rechargeable battery.  The run time is 3 hours in normal mode (halogen bulb and LEDs) and you can double that in blinking mode.

          I love the blue taillights

The main bulb is a high intensity halogen spotlight that produces just under 80,000 candela and 150 lumens.  I explain candela and lumens here.  I really like the fact that there are also two blue taillights which help the user to be seen in smoke.

          Warranty

Streamlight has two year warranty on the electronics, switches, chargers and rechargeable batteries.

          Conclusion

One of the best things about this light is how well it is priced.  Comparable light easily cost 50% more.  This is a tough light that is built to last.  If you are in the market for a box light I would recommend that you check this light out here.

            Hi,

This was a nice and short review of the fire vulcan. Could you maybe expand a little bit on your personal experience with this light? Are you using this product right now yourself?
Also, the weight might be a bit high, is there any alternative maybe?

            Thanks in advance
            Greetz!

Thanks Vincent! Yes there is slightly newer version of the Fire Vulcan out now, the Model 44450. It comes in right under two pounds. We will do a review on that shortly.
